I'm not going down without a fight!

It is official - I have mono. Boo.

I am not happy about this, but I'm not going to let this ruin my plans. I have echinacea and vitamins and will drink gallons of water and get tons of rest in the upcoming days and weeks and will get better quickly.

Apparently I'm a freak as well, because I have only one of the symptoms of mono - I don't even have swollen lymph glands, which is supposed to be a must with mono. Like I said, freak. I'm looking at it as a sign that I have a kick-ass immune system that is going to have me up and on my feet in two weeks flat. That way I will be able to go to Haiti as planned.

I'm praying that that is the case. I have a follow-up test scheduled in two weeks and will have to make a decision then. Mono is not going to take me down and ruin my trip without a fight!

Don't Rain on My Parade!!!

So, I might have mono. Yeah, that's right. I went to the doctor because I had a nasty sore throat that didn't look nice and now she's running mono tests. UGH. I would have preferred Strep - nice antibiotics and I'm on my way.

Instead, I have to wait for the results of the mono test, hoping and praying that it is something else. If it is mono, my summer may be screwed. Haiti? Maybe not (probably not, if I'm being completely honest). S**t! SO NOT COOL!!!

I'm holding out hope though that it is some other nasty viral infection that won't end up ruining my travel and volunteer plans. (Please, please, please...)
